Add a drainage object to the map
Every basin, cleanout, and outlet you drop is one more piece of the invisible system made visible. Place a pin, pick the type, name it, and it’s on the map for the whole crew, in about fifteen seconds.
-
Open the Drainage section.
-
Click the green plus button on the left toolbar. It’s labeled Add object to map when you hover.
-
Click the spot on the map where the object lives. A banner reminds you: “Click the map to place a new drainage item”, and you can press Esc to cancel. Near a drain line, the pin snaps onto it and the badge shows Snapped. Snapped objects are connected to the line, so place basins and cleanouts right on their runs.
-
The Set Up Drainage Item form opens with the location locked in. Wrong spot? Click Change and click again.
-
Pick the type from the icon grid: Catch Basin, Area Drain, Cleanout, Outlet, Pop-up Emitter, Junction Box, or Headwall. Your property may have custom types too.
-
Name it (required, something like “12 Approach Basin”), and set a Hole and Area if you want the filters to find it later.
-
Click the green Add To Map button. It’s live for your whole team instantly.
-
Tap the Drainage section in the bottom navigation.
-
Tap the green Add button in the bottom command bar.
-
A prompt appears: “Tap the map to place the drainage item.” Tap the spot, or better: stand over the grate and tap Use current location. Your GPS does the aiming for you.
-
Check the preview pin: “Are you happy with this location? Tap again to adjust, then hit proceed.” Tap the map to nudge it, then tap Proceed to next step.
-
Pick the type from the icon grid, name it, and optionally tap a Hole and Area chip.
-
Tap the green Add to map button. Done.
Good to know
Section titled “Good to know”- Name things consistently (“12 Fwy Basin 3”) and the Inventory panel and inspection list stay useful as your map grows.
- In the field, Use current location beats eyeballing the satellite photo from your desk.
- On web, watch for the Snapped badge. That’s what records a basin or cleanout as connected to its line.
- Holes and areas power the map filters and inspection grouping. Ten seconds now saves scrolling later.
If something’s not working
Section titled “If something’s not working”“Adding objects is limited to management or owners.” Your role can’t add objects. Any Owner or Management member can do it, or change your role under Manage Account → Team.
The type grid says “No drainage icons are configured for this property.” Your icon library is empty. See Set up your objects, or contact us. If it shows “Loading icon library…” for more than a few seconds, check your connection.
Add To Map is grayed out. You need all three: a location, a type, and a name. The web app tells you what’s missing: “Choose the type of drainage item to add.”, “Give the drainage item a name.”, or “Click the map to choose where this item should go.” On mobile the same checks appear as “Choose a type”, “Name required”, and “Missing location” alerts.
“That icon is missing its base type. Reseed the icon library.” The icon you picked is misconfigured for this property. Reseed the icon library or contact support.
“Location unavailable” (mobile). “We couldn’t find your current location yet.” No GPS fix yet. Step into the open, wait a moment, and try Use current location again, or just tap the map.
“Unable to add item” (mobile). The save failed, usually connectivity. The alert includes the reason; try again once you have signal.
Related
Section titled “Related”- Drain lines are drawn, not pin-placed. See Draw drain lines.
- Move, remove, or delete objects later from the Inventory panel (web).
- Once it’s on the map, open it to log work and report issues.
