Setting up your handbook

Before you start placing things, set up your templates, the reusable styles behind everything that goes on your Handbook map. It’s a one-time bit of prep, done on the web under Handbook Preferences.

There are three template types, one for each kind of thing you’ll map.

Objects are for point things, anything that lives in one spot: bunker rakes, benches, ball washers, fountains, washrooms, signs. Turfile comes with a set of ready-made objects, so you can start placing them right away. In Preferences you can recolor them, rename them, resize them, or add your own with a custom icon.

Lines are for paths and boundaries you draw: a cart-path route, a hazard line, an edge the crew shouldn’t drive across. Create a line template with a name, a color, a width, and a style (solid, dashed, or dotted), and you’ll draw with it.

Areas are for filled regions: your parking areas, your no-parking zones, any no-go area you want to mark clearly. Create an area template with a name, a perimeter color, and a fill, then outline the region on the map.
