Showing layers on the map

This is the everyday part. Once you’ve got layers, the Layers widget in the widget panel on the right is where you turn them on and off.

Each layer has its own switch. Flip one on and it appears on the map; flip it off and it’s gone. Nothing else changes, so it’s a safe thing to play with.

Layers aren’t either-or. Turn on a drone flyover and a survey overlay at the same time, or line up a couple of satellite passes, whatever helps you see what you need. Every layer you switch on stacks onto the map together.

When two or more are on, the order matters, since the top one draws over the ones beneath it. Drag the layers in the widget to reorder them until the map looks right.

  • 3D Terrain. A separate toggle at the top of the widget adds Mapbox terrain relief, handy for reading slopes and drainage.
  • Hidden layers. If a layer’s missing from the list, it may be hidden from the widget. The widget tells you how many are hidden; bring them back from Manage layers. See Managing your layers.

That’s the whole widget: switch layers on, stack and order them, and get the map reading exactly the way your crew works the course.
