Item details, logs & issues

Every basin and line on the map carries its own story: what it is, what’s been done to it, and what’s wrong right now. Click a drainage object on the web map, or tap it on your phone, and its panel opens with four tabs: Details, Log, History, and Issue.

The Details tab shows the item’s coordinates and its Hole and Area chips. Click a chip (Set hole / Set area) to assign or change them. The note field (“Short note about this item…”) saves as you type. The Last Inspection card shows who checked it last and whether it’s on schedule, capped by the Currently Works button (see Drainage inspections).

The panel header hides two extras:

  • Rename: hover the item’s name and click it (the Rename hint appears). Type the new name and press Enter.
  • Change item type: click the item’s icon in the header to open the type picker. Handy when someone mapped an area drain as a catch basin.

On mobile, Details also has the move control next to the coordinates. Tap it and the app prompts “Tap the map to choose the new drainage location.”, then “Tap the map to adjust, then hit done to save the new location.” Tap Done to save.

Jetted the line? Replaced a grate? Log it while your boots are still muddy.

  1. Open the item and switch to the Log tab.

  2. Pick the date (the calendar icon next to “Select date of event”).

  3. Describe the work in the notes box (“Enter details of the event”).

  4. Attach photos: “Drop photos here” or click to browse, up to 4.

  5. Click Submit Log.

The History tab lists every log entry, newest first, with dates, notes, and photo thumbnails. Click an entry to open it full size; click Load more at the bottom for older ones. Turfile also writes entries automatically: quick inspections, “Issue created: …” when an issue is filed, and “Issue resolved” when it’s closed. A brand-new item shows “No history yet.”

When something’s wrong, file an issue on the item itself. A red ! badge appears on the Issue tab, the item is flagged on the map, and the issue rolls up into the Drainage Issues panel where managers can prioritize it and spin up a to-do.

  1. Open the item and switch to the Issue tab.

  2. Pick the type from the Select Issue dropdown. Drainage has six: Blockage, Overgrown, Unlevel, Needs Clean, Damaged, and Other.

  3. Add a description (“Describe the issue (optional)”) and up to 4 photos. A picture of standing water says more than a paragraph.

  4. Click Submit. (The button stays disabled until you’ve picked a type.)

While an issue is open, the tab shows Current Issue with its description, photos, and who posted it. When the work is done, hit Issue Solved: the issue is resolved, any linked to-do completes, and an “Issue resolved” entry lands in the history.

Clicking an item does nothing (web). Staff roles can’t select map items directly; items open for them through assigned to-dos.

I only see Issue and History tabs. Same cause. Details and Log need edit access (Tech Staff and up).

“Name cannot be empty.” A rename can’t be blank. Type a name or press Esc to cancel.

“You do not have permission to rename items.” Renaming needs edit access. Ask a manager.

“Only owners and management can change item types.” The type picker is restricted; Tech Staff can’t re-type items.

“Error uploading log: …” The log or its photos didn’t save; the alert includes the reason. Check your connection and resubmit. Your text stays in the form.

“Error updating issue status: …” Submitting or resolving the issue failed. Try again.

“Not allowed” (mobile). “Your permission level does not allow this action.” The move or edit you tried needs a higher role.

  • Drainage inspections: the Currently Works quick-log and the schedule behind the Last Inspection card.
  • Issues and their to-dos also surface in the Issues and To-do manager panels on the drainage toolbar.
  • To move an item from your desk, use the Inventory panel’s relocate action.
