Export your map
Sometimes the map needs to leave Turfile, for the consultant who wants shapefiles or the wall of the pump house. Export map produces either a GIS package or a print-ready PDF sheet.
Pick a format
Section titled “Pick a format”Click Export map on the left toolbar. The “Export Irrigation Map” panel opens with two formats:
- “Shapefile (GIS)”: “For QGIS & ArcGIS — styled layers plus an all-in-one GeoPackage.”
- “PDF map sheet”: “Print-ready sheet — frame the exact area you want on the map.”
Both share an include list: a checkbox per item type, with live counts (“Heads (214)”, “Pipes (89)”, and so on). At least one type must be checked.
Export a shapefile
Section titled “Export a shapefile”-
Select “Shapefile (GIS)” and check the item types to include.
-
Click Export. While the server assembles the package you’ll see “Building your export…”
-
The file downloads automatically; a success message starting “Downloaded” names it. Hand it to your GIS person.
Generate a PDF map sheet
Section titled “Generate a PDF map sheet”-
Select “PDF map sheet” and give the sheet a title. The field suggests your property’s name followed by ”— Irrigation Map”.
-
Tick “Label item names” if you want names printed beside the items.
-
Click “Choose area on map”, then frame your sheet: “Click and drag to draw your print area — Esc to cancel”. Release, and the panel confirms (“Print area set — ≈ W × H ft” with the real dimensions) and offers Re-choose if the frame’s not right.
-
Click Generate PDF (“Drawing your map sheet…”) and the sheet downloads.
Current limitations
Section titled “Current limitations”- PDF backgrounds are white-only for now. The satellite photo can’t be printed under your items yet (imagery licensing).
- No CSV export of item lists.
- No export from the Inventory panel. Exports live here, in Export map.
If something’s not working
Section titled “If something’s not working”“Map export is limited to management or owners.” Tech Staff and Staff can’t export. Ask an Owner or Management member.
“Nothing is mapped in this section yet.” There’s nothing to export. Add objects or draw pipes and wires first.
“You must be signed in to export.” Your session expired. Sign back in and rerun the export.
“Export failed (status).” The server couldn’t build the export. Try again; if it keeps failing, contact support.
The export button won’t run. Export and Generate PDF need at least one include checkbox ticked, and the PDF also needs its print area drawn.

Section titled “Related”- Draw pipes and wires: get the whole system mapped before it ships out.
