Draw pipes and wires
Pipes and wires are what turn a scatter of pins into a system you can actually trace, from the mainline all the way to the head that’s weeping. You draw them with the Pipe & Wire panel.
First, set up templates
Section titled “First, set up templates”Every run takes its specs (size, material, color, depth, line style) from a template. No templates, no drawing: the Draw tab says “Add a pipe template to enable drawing.” and offers a Create Templates button. Build at least one in Pipe and wire templates first.
Also know that pipes and wires are separate systems. A pipe only snaps to other pipes, a wire only to other wires. The panel’s helper says it plainly: “Pick pipe or wire, then choose a template.”
Draw a run
Section titled “Draw a run”-
Open the Irrigation section and click Pipe & wire tools on the left toolbar. The Pipe & Wire panel opens on its Draw tab.
-
Under “Choose what to draw”, pick Pipe or Wire.
-
Choose a template from the Select pipe template (or Select wire template) dropdown. Chips preview its specs, and as the panel notes: “Template specs (color & depth) stay locked. You can still switch between straight and curved draw styles.”
-
Click Start Drawing. It stays disabled until you pick a template.
-
Choose Straight or Curved. Drawing a straight wire? Also pick a segment mode: “New wire segment at every point.” or “Continuous wire across all points.”
-
Click along the run to drop points. The Template details card stays pinned; ← Back returns you to setup.
-
Click Finish Drawing to save, or Cancel to scrap it. As the panel puts it: “Finish saves the current pipe. Cancel removes the in-progress points.”
-
Tap the Irrigation section, then Pipe & Wire in the bottom command bar (“Draw pipe and wire runs.”).
-
In the Pipe & wire drawer, under Tool, tap the Pipe or Wire chip.
-
Pick from the Templates list, then tap Start drawing.
-
Choose Straight or Curved. Drawing a wire? Pick “New wire section at every point” or “Continuous wire across all points”.
-
Tap the map to drop points, or stand on the run and tap Drop point on my location.
-
Bad tap? Undo removes the last point.
-
Tap Finish to save the run, or Cancel to discard it.
Straight vs. Curved
Section titled “Straight vs. Curved”Straight drops a vertex at each click or tap. Every pair of points saves a segment immediately, and segments chain together as you go. On the web, press Esc when you’re done.
Curved is for sweeping runs. Points become draggable handles: drag one to reshape the curve, double-click one (web) to remove it. Web keys: Enter saves, Backspace removes the last point, Esc cancels.
Snapping and connections
Section titled “Snapping and connections”Bring an endpoint close to an existing run and it snaps, with a small halo dot previewing the connection. Pipes snap to pipes, wires to wires, never across. End a segment on an object (a head, a valve) and Turfile records the connection on both ends.
Edit a segment (web only)
Section titled “Edit a segment (web only)”-
In the Pipe & Wire panel, switch to the Edit tab (switching cancels any drawing in progress). Until you pick something it reads: “Select a pipe or wire segment on the map to edit.”
-
Click the run on the map. Hovering highlights it and shows its length (“Length: X ft”).
-
Update Label / Notes on a pipe (Description on a wire), or reassign the Pipe Template / Wire Template. The segment’s specs rewrite to match the new template. Length (read-only) comes from the drawn geometry.
-
Click Save Changes. A “Saved” toast confirms “Pipe changes saved.”
Segments drawn from a catalog-backed template show a Catalog Pipe card: “Pipe specs are locked to the catalog entry. Update depth or styling below.”
One thing the Edit tab can’t do: move the line. To reroute a run, delete the segment and redraw it.
Delete a segment (web only)
Section titled “Delete a segment (web only)”Select the segment in the Edit tab and click Delete. The confirmation asks “Delete segment?” and warns: “This will remove the segment and its connections.” No password check here, unlike deleting items from Inventory.
If something’s not working
Section titled “If something’s not working”“Pipe tools are limited to management or owners.” Ask an Owner or Management member to draw the run, or to change your role.
“Add a pipe template to enable drawing.” No templates exist for the tool you picked. Click Create Templates and build one. See Pipe and wire templates.
“Template required” / “Pick a template first, then start drawing.” (Mobile.) Tap a template in the Templates list before Start drawing.
“No pipe templates yet. Add one on desktop to start drawing.” (Mobile.) Templates are web-created. Build them there and they appear in the drawer.
“Location unavailable” / “We couldn’t find your current location yet.” (Mobile.) No GPS fix yet. Give it a few seconds in the open and tap Drop point on my location again.
“Deletes are limited to roles with delete access. Ask management/owner.” Deleting segments takes Owner or Management.
“Error saving: …” (in a dialog titled “Oops”). The save didn’t reach the server. Check your connection and click Save Changes again.
