Assign and work to-dos
A to-do is an issue with a name and a due date on it. You create one from an issue, and you finish it by resolving that issue.
Turn an issue into a to-do
Section titled “Turn an issue into a to-do”One issue gets one to-do, with a single assignee.
-
In the Issues panel, hover the issue and click Make To-Do. The “Create to-do” dialog opens.
-
“Choose teammate”: pick who’s doing the job.
-
“Set due date”: “Pick a due date” with Open calendar. Today is the earliest you can pick.
-
“Review & create” shows the Due, Assignee, and Issue. Click Create to-do (it flips to “Creating…” while it saves).
The due time is set for you: 5:00 PM that day.
-
On the issue card, tap Assign To-Do. The “Assign To-do” sheet opens.
-
Under “Select teammate”, tap an avatar.
-
Pick the “Due date” on the calendar.
-
Tap Save To-do. You’ll see “To-do Created”: “Assigned and scheduled.”
Mobile sets the due time to 12:00 PM that day.
The issue now wears its assignee chip, and the assignee gets a “New task” push on their phone (what pings whom).
Check the review step before you create: there’s no reassigning and no due-date edit afterward.
Want a to-do that isn’t tied to a section issue? The web Home task composer is the only place to create one directly. See Issues and to-dos.
My to-dos vs Team to-dos
Section titled “My to-dos vs Team to-dos”Each section’s To-do manager tool (titled “Irrigation To-Do’s” and so on; in Trees it’s “Work orders”) has two tabs: “My To-dos” and “Team To-dos”. The Team tab groups cards by assignee. Each card carries the item name, a due chip (“No due date” if none), the issue type, and its description (“No description provided”). Click a card and the map focuses the item with the Issue tab ready.
The Todos tool splits into “My to-dos” and “Team to-dos”, with “Assigned” and “Unassigned” groupings and a View on map button on every card. Overdue cards go red.
Staff focus mode
Section titled “Staff focus mode”Staff don’t get a Team tab on either platform. The web notice spells it out: “Focus mode enabled — view and complete the work orders assigned to you. Contact an owner if you need broader access.” Staff cards open straight to the item’s Issue tab, which is the only tab they need.
Completing a to-do (read this one)
Section titled “Completing a to-do (read this one)”There is no complete button on a to-do, anywhere. A to-do completes itself the moment its linked issue is resolved.
-
Open your to-do and jump to its item: click the card on web, or tap View on map on mobile.
-
On the item’s Issue tab, resolve the issue (Issue Solved). Home issues ask for a resolution note; Track issues has the details.
-
Done. The to-do marks itself complete, everything archives to History, and the completion push goes out.
No reopening either. Completed to-dos and resolved issues are final.
Badges
Section titled “Badges”- Web nav: red per-section counters. Owners, Management, and Tech Staff see open-issue counts (work orders in Trees). Staff see their own to-do count instead. Caps at “99+”.
- Mobile: count bubbles on the Issues tools, plus the app-icon badge for unread pushes (how it clears).
If something’s not working
Section titled “If something’s not working”Two things trip people up. First, there’s no Complete button on a to-do, you finish it by resolving its linked issue from the item’s Issue tab, and the to-do closes itself. Second, if you’ve got nobody to assign, you’ll need to invite your team first. Anything else, email us at support@turfile.com.
