Requesting drone imagery

Drone imagery is the sharpest look you can get, around 5 cm per pixel, captured just for your property. Because it means putting an actual aircraft over your course, the request asks for a bit more: the area you want flown, a date, and a few sign-offs. Turfile handles the flight planning, airspace coordination, and delivery.

  1. Open the Layers widget, click Manage layers, and on the Request imagery tab choose Drone imagery, then Start quote form.

  2. Fill in your course and contact details, including a day-of-flight phone number so the pilot can reach you.

  3. Outline the area to capture. Draw the part of the course you want flown right on the inline map. Turfile shows the acreage as you go, and you can redraw or clear it until it’s right.

  4. Set your scheduling, a preferred flight date, whether you’re flexible by a few days (which helps us dodge weather and airspace closures), and a rough time window.

  5. Check the acknowledgements, confirming the course permits drone operations, that flights can move for weather or airspace, and that you’ve read Turfile’s policy. Add any notes about what you’d like captured, then Submit drone request.

You’ll see “Request received — we’ll send scheduling options shortly.”

  1. We scope and quote. Our team coordinates the vendor, airspace, and logistics, then comes back with a firm quote and scheduling options for you to approve.
  2. Confirm and fly. Once it’s approved, we lock in the capture window and keep you posted, weather permitting.
  3. Process and publish. After the flight we build the orthomosaic and drop it into your workspace as a layer.

From there it lives in your Layers widget like any other, ready to toggle on the map.

If the drone option is locked, it’s tied to your plan, requests come with Standard and Pro. Upgrade from the prompt, or email us at support@turfile.com and we’ll walk you through it.
